The successful candidate will lead teams on significant projects while also managing smaller consultancy and feasibility studies as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive oversight of engineering activities, ensuring technical support, quality assurance, and design reviews to prevent over-engineering.
- Collaborate with fellow Principal Process Engineers and Global Leads to establish a unified understanding and operational practices.
- Act as Project Manager or Lead Engineer for designated projects or proposals in alignment with the company’s management protocols.
- Execute assigned engineering tasks within the defined budget and timeline.
- Generate engineering deliverables that comply with the company’s management system, applicable regulations, project specifications, and international standards. Review deliverables prepared by others.
- Utilize extensive knowledge to address complex engineering and design challenges.
- Offer technical insights to support project teams.
- Participate in technical design reviews to ensure alignment with client requirements and quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Contribute to the formulation of project engineering budgets and timelines.
- Document lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Manage engineering scope to mitigate cost and schedule overruns.
- Identify and document any changes in project scope, adhering to established procedures for cost and time adjustments.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
- Chartered Engineer (non-US) or Professional Engineer (US) designation is preferred.
- 5-10+ years of experience in various process engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a multidisciplinary petrochemical design setting.
- Experience with LLDPE and HDPE technologies/licenses is advantageous.
- Proficient in industry-standard process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen EDR/Plus/HYSYS).
- Field experience in operations, commissioning, process optimization, and debottlenecking is beneficial.
- Current knowledge of key process design and engineering methodologies and their applications.
- Familiarity with relevant international standards for petrochemical process facilities.
- Strong problem definition and resolution skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead diverse teams of engineers while also being self-sufficient and decisive.
- Working knowledge of fixed and rotating machinery.
- Organized with the capability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Understanding of industry codes, safety standards, and regulations.
