**Responsibilities**

As a Licensed Practical Nurse in our clinic, you will be responsible for performing and directing patient care according to established clinic workflows. This includes admission interviews, accurate documentation, and timely patient flow.

* Accompany the physician into the exam room or connect remotely by audio for the patient visit, documenting all aspects of care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
* Work directly with the physician to ensure the patient visit is appropriately documented.
* Develop an understanding of physician practice patterns and key terms used by the physician to ensure efficient and accurate real-time documentation of patient visits.
* Triage patient care to ensure priority is provided to patients in emergency situations.
* Prepare rooms for daily patient care, responsible for sterilization, restocking instruments, cleaning and resetting rooms between patients, ordering medications and supplies, and helping orient new employees to the clinic through explanation of procedures.
* Assist healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures, and testing as directed.
* Willingly ask provider questions, get clarification when needed, and communicate concerns appropriately and timely.
* Perform phlebotomy lab procedures and communicate results to the patient as ordered by the provider.
* Notify patients of lab and diagnostic test results under the direct supervision of the healthcare provider.
* Ensure appropriate consent is obtained prior to the above.
* Provide patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, tests, medication, and follow-up under direct supervision of the healthcare provider.
* Maintain/update patient education materials and consent forms.
* Ensure the patient is appropriately prepared for the care encounter.
* Prepare/obtain patient medical records and other information/documentation pertinent to the patient encounter.
* Calculate visit estimates for prompt payment.
* Explain to the patient the visit estimate, prompt pay discount, and payment plan as needed.
* Collect visit payments.
* Triage patient telephone calls utilizing knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
* Receive, prioritize, document, and respond to incoming calls as appropriate.

**Qualifications**

* **Required:**
* Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse License from the state licensing board.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS).
* **Preferred:**
* 1 year related experience in a clinic, specialty clinic, or acute hospital setting.
