CHI Health St. Marys has been serving Nebraska City and the surrounding areas since 1927. In 2014, St. Marys opened a brand-new, fully modernized facility. The new campus is better equipped to meet the changing needs of our community, offering increased capacity for specialty clinics and an integrated primary care clinic.

St. Marys encourages collaboration and care coordination among primary care physicians and medical specialists, resulting in high-quality care for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Performs patient care following established clinic workflows, including admission interviews, accurate documentation, and timely patient flow.
  • Accompanies physicians into exam rooms or connects remotely via audio for patient visits, documenting all aspects of care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Works directly with physicians to ensure patient visits are appropriately documented.
  • Triage patient care to prioritize emergency situations, prepares rooms for daily patient care, and ensures sterilization and restocking of instruments.
  • Assists healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures, and testing as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy lab procedures and communicates results to patients as ordered by providers.
  • Notifies patients of lab and diagnostic test results under the direct supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Ensures appropriate consent is obtained prior to procedures.
  • Provides patient and family education on healthcare management, disease processes, treatments, tests, medications, and follow-up under direct supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Maintains and updates patient education materials and consent forms.
  • Ensures patients are prepared for care encounters, prepares patient medical records, and calculates visit estimates for prompt payment.
  • Triage patient telephone calls utilizing knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
Qualifications
  • Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse License from the state licensing board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS).
  • Preferred: 1 year of related experience in a clinic, specialty clinic, or acute hospital setting.
