About the Role

The Director of Global Strategy and Policy is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of planning, policy, strategy, and future concepts and experimentation for USSOCOM. This role requires a deep understanding of global operations and the ability to integrate the efforts of the HQ, staff, and subordinate commands in developing a unified strategy that supports current and anticipated policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute planning, policy, strategy, and future concepts and experimentation for USSOCOM
  • Integrate the efforts of the HQ, staff, and subordinate commands in developing a unified strategy
  • Support the command's efforts to execute the role as Coordinating Authority as designated by the Secretary of Defense
  • Manage a budget of $16.03 million and substantially influence $6 billion annually
  • Provide executive leadership to a workforce of over 210 personnel
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Must be able to pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment
  • Must be willing to travel under conditions specified in the DoD Joint Travel Regulations
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a master's or advanced degree from an accredited institution is highly desired. The candidate must possess a broad point of view and an awareness and understanding of individual or organizational responsibilities in relation to DoD or government-wide strategic priorities.
