Job Title: Bilingual Peer Support Specialist

At the San Diego LGBT Community Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Bilingual Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Youth Housing Services department, you will provide mentorship, stabilization support, and crisis intervention to transitional-age youth participating in our LGBTQ Safe STAY Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide mentorship and support to program participants, promoting empowerment and hope.
  • Utilize shared life experience expertise to advance client engagement and retention in services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client goals and needs, case management plans, and service entries into internal data systems.
  • Enter program data and outcomes into the region's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to adhere to grant and contract compliance.
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with life experiences common to youth who have experienced housing instability.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Comfortable working in PC/Windows-based environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness, foster care, and juvenile dependency systems.
  • Fluency in a language other than English and Spanish.
Work Location:
  • On-site, in the office, with occasional work outside of the office in the community.
