Job Summary

The Senior Production Manager is a key leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing department. This role requires strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills to allocate resources and personnel effectively, ensuring the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns personal and team safety, adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Executes daily and weekly departmental productivity goals to meet monthly sales targets and on-time customer delivery.
  • Establishes objectives for the team aligned with the company's execution strategy and evaluates team members on performance.
  • Initiates efficient labor allocation and management to ensure high quality and productivity.
  • Demonstrates effective daily communication with the team to ensure all employees are informed and committed to the department's immediate goals and vision.
  • Ensures team members understand how their work relates to the plant's strategic goals and the company's mission.
  • Develops all team members, with a focus on Station Leaders and high performers.
  • Leads and/or supports projects related to new products, continuous improvement, quality, safety, or cost reduction.
  • Collaborates with peers and internal customers locally and globally to foster sharing of best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Acts as Emergency Coordinator for emergency response situations.
  • Drives awareness and enforcement of policies and procedures indicative of an equitable and well-run professional organization.
  • Eliminates hazards and proactively acts upon recommendations identified through behavior-based safety observations.
  • Understands, complies with, and supports all agency regulatory standards as well as company-specific policies governing environmental, health, safety, quality, financial, and people practices.

Nature and Scope:

The Senior Production Manager reports to the Production Manager and provides support for functional processes, projects, and initiatives sponsored by EHS, Quality, Human Resources, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain. May participate in or lead cross-functional teams representing multiple company business locations.

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of experience leading effective teams in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical thinking demonstrated by the ability to solve problems using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Project management skills, including setting a vision, establishing and driving timelines, and division of responsibility to balance skills and workload.
  • Keen evaluator of talent and effective developer of high-performing team members.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce professional documents, emails, and presentations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including charting, graphing, and analysis functions in Excel, effective use of Word to create documentation and shared resources, and the generation of compelling communications in PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of continuous improvement tools and processes.
  • Possess the business acumen to run a department as a cost and profit center, continually seeking opportunities to improve output and reduce expenses.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or equivalent level of experience.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 80% of the time. This position requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and travel up to 10% of the time. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Occasional weekend work is typical and availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
