Job Summary

Nokian Tyres is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in installations and start-up assistance for new equipment and modifications
  • Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and quality standards
  • Assist in finding and implementing corrective actions from customer rejections
  • Communicate with other shifts, operators, and technicians to share equipment status updates
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to implement maintenance methods and practices
  • Perform preventive, predictive, project, and reactive maintenance as required
  • Conduct routine diagnostic checks on automated systems and equipment to collect performance data
  • React quickly to equipment downtime, evaluate trouble through effective troubleshooting, and execute repairs to restore equipment to safe and efficient operation
  • Communicate equipment repair and recovery information to management and operations personnel
  • Maintain accurate service records to monitor equipment performance
  • Input work order and equipment repair data into the maintenance management system
  • Rebuild, repair, and reassemble machines and equipment
  • Communicate required spare parts to management
  • Maintain certification to perform exceptional maintenance work
  • Engage in personal performance to achieve and retain high-performance standards
Requirements
  • Possess knowledge of industrial maintenance systems, equipment controls, and safety circuits
  • Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC
  • Willingness to attend formal training courses to learn PLC programming
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent visual skills, and above basic mathematical skills and reasoning ability
  • Knowledge of OSHA Requirements, including electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Basic working knowledge of computer software and MS Office
  • Experience with operating forklifts
  • Ability to operate with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Demonstrate team spirit, flexibility, and a positive attitude as an active team contributor
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize and escalate issues when necessary
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-hire basic skills tests and assessments
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks, physical exams, and drug screenings
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree from an accredited community, technical, or vocational college preferred
  • 1-2 years of multi-craft experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean/process improvement tools experience and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout assigned working hours
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, bending, and stooping
  • Must be able to tolerate odors from raw materials, freshly cured tires, and hot materials
  • Frequent pulling and/or pushing up to 20 lbs independently, and occasional pushing and/or pulling up to 35 lbs independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs independently, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance
  • Must be able to frequently engage in repetitive motions requiring substantial movement of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
  • Adequate vision to read work instructions, job aids, and guides, and detect imperfections in raw materials, tooling, and finished product
  • Ability to work in an environment with limited climate control and varied temperature levels
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in an environment with continual noise, requiring the ability to hear, understand, and communicate work instructions and directions while wearing company-provided hearing protection
  • Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and vibration
  • Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour shift (days or nights)
