Position Overview:

The Cyber Security Operations Specialist plays a vital role within the NYU Family Health Centers Cyber Security Operations Team, overseeing the operational management and effectiveness of the organization's security infrastructure. This position is essential for maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and process outlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Cyber Security Operations Center, ensuring effective monitoring and response to cyber and information security incidents.
  • Oversee the Cyber Security Incident Response process, providing support for disciplinary and legal matters arising from security investigations.
  • Manage the Threat & Vulnerability Management Program, focusing on the identification, assessment, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Direct Cyber Security Operations initiatives, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.
  • Continuously monitor threat intelligence relevant to the organization’s brand, technology, and operations, delivering timely reports based on the findings.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of a diverse security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure web gateways, endpoint security, vulnerability scanners, SIEM, and DLP.
  • Provide expert consultation to business and IT partners regarding security remediation efforts.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation related to security designs, configurations, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders and technical teams to evaluate both immediate and long-term security requirements.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with key vendors to ensure service levels are clearly understood and consistently met.
  • Mentor junior members of the Information Security team, fostering their professional development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CISSP certification is preferred.
  • Experience managing security technologies, processes, and procedures in a comparable organization.
  • Proficiency in firewall management, endpoint security, and threat analysis.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in information security.
  • Demonstrated experience in security operational functions and best practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Commitment to customer service and a solution-focused approach.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
