Summary
The EUV Source team in San Diego thrives in a dynamic and innovative environment, dedicated to crafting industry-first solutions with rapid productization to support an ambitious commercialization strategy for EUV technology.
The Plasma Controls Department plays a crucial role in engineering metrology, automation, and control loops for the EUV light source system.
The intricate nature of the EUV source presents exciting challenges for Plasma Control Engineers, who will engage in all stages of control system development and integration, utilizing advanced control algorithms, real-time embedded software, high-speed electronics, and precision sensors, all under demanding dynamic conditions to ensure stable EUV light production.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a technical authority for various control subsystems or function clusters, capable of making independent decisions on critical technical matters.
- Conduct feasibility studies, assist in product roadmap development, and provide insights on future product definitions and system specifications.
- Oversee the integrity of system architecture during development, ensuring the availability of Test Specifications, and coordinate or execute testing processes and design verification across multiple functions.
- Coordinate the specification of system functionalities and design system architecture while ensuring product and subsystem commonality across all programs.
- Support cross-functional program definitions, coordinate the decomposition and specification of subsystems, and facilitate the design review and approval processes in collaboration with relevant Product and Project Management teams.
- Define, plan, manage, and coordinate assigned projects, ensuring execution and delivery within project management guidelines.
- Foster optimal communication of specifications to all relevant stakeholders to enhance decision-making processes, and prepare for the introduction of approved new projects by defining all technical specifications at the system level for Development & Engineering.
- Mentor junior controls engineers, leading the development and integration of innovative control system solutions to enable stable and efficient EUV production.
- Organize, coordinate, optimize, lead, coach, develop, and evaluate team members within the extended product team.
Skills
- Proven experience in designing and implementing complex feedback control or optimization systems.
- Familiarity with the product development cycle and adept at guiding teams to success at each stage.
- Strong analytical skills for feedback control systems using classical, modern, or nonlinear techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern control theory, stochastics, and nonlinear control theory.
- Proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.
- Ability to translate and statistically analyze data, effectively reporting findings through written and graphical formats, and communicating results to junior engineers, product architects, and executives.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or Physics; specialization in advanced control systems preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with a PhD, 5+ years with a Master's degree, or 7+ years with a Bachelor's degree.
- Postgraduate courses in linear systems, feedback control, signal processing, estimation, and system identification are highly regarded.
