Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary:

Hastings Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our company's network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy company LANs and wireless networks, including routers, switches, appliances, and other hardware.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation as it relates to network configurations, network mappings, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, and other network appliances.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions.
  • Interact with vendors and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Maintain high availability for the corporate network.
  • Provide on-call availability 24/7 for network performance problems.
  • Actively participate in professional development, i.e., continuing education or self-improvement.

Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • CCNA certification or equivalent experience (network specifically).
  • Experience with administration of Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise equipment.
  • Utilizing Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Next-Generation Firewalls (IDS/IPS/NAC/WAF).
  • Layer 2 and 3 Protocols.
  • Experience working in a switched and routed environment.
  • Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware.
  • Knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good written, verbal, and communication skills.
