Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Violence Practitioner to join our team at the Magistrates Court. As a Family Violence Practitioner, you will play a critical role in supporting applicants affected by family violence through the court process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess applicants' immediate non-legal needs and provide support and referrals as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety planning to ensure the safety of applicants and their families.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Judiciary, Court Registrars, and community-based organisations.
  • Utilise the MARAM framework and share risk-relevant information under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme to support the management of risk and safety.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a related therapeutic discipline, such as social work, psychology, or social sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of family violence, including drivers, risks, and issues that can exacerbate family violence risk.
  • Sound skills in the provision of support, crisis containment, and risk assessment, as well as stakeholder engagement skills.
