Position Overview

The Underwriting/Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the underwriting process by evaluating and approving endorsements, analyzing risks, and reviewing policy terms and conditions. This position also involves managing relationships with various stakeholders, including underwriters and reinsurers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine data entry tasks.
  • Organize and distribute incoming departmental correspondence.
  • Perform general administrative duties within the department.
  • Act as the primary receptionist for the branch.
  • Handle miscellaneous office responsibilities.
  • Review facultative insurance certificates for consistency with underwriting expectations.
  • Address accounting discrepancies with reinsurers.
  • Generate operational and underwriting reports as needed.
  • Engage with producers to determine appropriate actions.
  • Assist in User Acceptance Testing for system changes.
  • Provide training to Operations Assistants with less experience.
  • Audit the work of colleagues.
  • May have the authority to review and approve endorsements and analyze risks on behalf of underwriting.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma is typically required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Experience with product complexity is essential.
