Admission and Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Admission and Referral Specialist to join our team at SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for facilitating the intake process for clients seeking behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the completion of each application and work with clinical and medical staff to determine appropriateness for the program.
- Coordinate applicant interviews by telephone, video, or in person, and obtain confidential information from referral sources.
- Make final recommendations to the Admissions Team for acceptance and collaborate with the Clinical and Case Management team using the Twelve Core functions in working with clients.
- Use ASAM, DSM 5, or other placement criteria to determine suitability between applicant's needs/strengths and program services.
- Maintain waiting lists, obtain demographic data and substance history in format to meet accreditation and grant requirements for reporting, and present confidential client information to residential staff to prepare them to work with incoming clients.
- Communicate with applicants to let them know the status of their application and inform potential referrals of the intake process.
- Process admission inquiries for adolescent residential behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment programs and work closely with referral agents throughout the State of Alaska.
- Initiate marketing strategies for the program and assist with coordinating travel arrangements to and from treatment for all applicants.
- Initiate the billing process and attend scheduled staff trainings and required trainings.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Chemical Dependency Counselor I certification by the State of Alaska or in a state which has reciprocity with Alaska or the ability to obtain this certification within two years of employment.
- Valid State of Alaska Driver's License or obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Three years' full-time work experience in behavioral health and/or chemical dependency services, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment modalities.
- Basic knowledge of behavioral health disorders and substance use disorders and their effects on the human body, mind, and social relationships.
- Considerable knowledge of CFR 42 Part 2 and HIPAA regulations regarding client confidentiality and protected health information laws and practices.
- Proficient skill in oral and written communication, maintaining accurate and detailed records, and strong skills with computers and various computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills.
