Mammography Technologist

As a Mammography Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will operate radiology equipment to produce high-quality radiographic images of the breast. You will work closely with radiologists to perform stereotactic core needle biopsies, sentinel node injections, and other related procedures. Your primary focus will be on providing excellent patient care and developing strong relationships with our members.
Essential Responsibilities:- Perform screening, diagnostic, and specialized mammography procedures, ensuring high-quality images and patient safety.
- Instruct patients on imaging procedures, position them correctly, and operate mammographic and radiographic equipment.
- Review images for accuracy and technical quality, repeating images as needed and submitting them for interpretation by radiologists.
- Assist with procedures, follow established guidelines, and provide patient education, obtaining informed consent as necessary.
- Document all quality control measures, including MQSA requirements, and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and radiologists, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and a focus on patient-centered care.
- Utilize Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) according to established practice guidelines.
- Follow established quality assurance/quality control program, monitoring equipment and accessories, and reporting malfunctions to supervisors.
- Minimum of one year of direct mammography experience (waived for current KP Coalition employees).
- High school graduation or equivalent, and successful completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist, and Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Ability to operate diagnostic and specialized radiology equipment and perform related technical procedures.
- Critical thinking skills in a high-stress environment required.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
