Pharmaceutical Care Specialist

Job Overview
Key ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care through an integrated approach to medication distribution, patient education, and counseling. This role involves processing medication orders, monitoring patient medication regimens, and providing essential drug information. The Clinical Pharmacist also oversees and guides support staff. In the absence of the Pharmacy Director, the Clinical Pharmacist may need to undertake critical responsibilities and fulfill the duties of the Pharmacy Director.
Required QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting is required (new graduates may be considered).
2. Preferred experience of two to three years in a hospital environment.
3. Capability to work autonomously and manage stress effectively.
4. Ability to navigate frequent interruptions and adapt to varying workloads and schedules.
5. Proficiency in prioritizing tasks, making critical decisions, and responding promptly to urgent requests.
6. Skills in managing a diverse team.
7. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Understanding of the laws, regulations, and standards governing pharmacy practice.
9. Commitment to compliance with South Texas Health System's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, including adherence to all policies and procedures, participation in required training, and immediate reporting of any suspected compliance issues to the Compliance Officer.
Educational Requirements / Licensure:
1. Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
2. Active license in good standing with the relevant State Board of Pharmacy.
3. ASHP IV certification or successful completion of an ACPE/ASHP accredited program within a specified timeframe of hire if not already certified.
