Position Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee and execute repairs on various machinery, including semi-trucks, pickup vehicles, diesel engines, generators, and gasoline engines. This position requires collaboration with team members to effectively fulfill shop mechanic responsibilities. The technician will be accountable for maintaining and fixing vehicles and machinery, as well as managing the procurement of necessary replacement components and supplies. Additional tasks may involve minor fabrication, production, and warehouse activities. All responsibilities must be performed in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out diverse shop tasks, ensuring a tidy work environment both inside and outside the workshop.
- Service and maintain equipment as required.
- Manage tools and parts inventory effectively.
- Utilize electrical tools, equipment, and safety devices in compliance with company policies and safety protocols.
- Foster a cooperative and team-oriented attitude.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn about the methods, practices, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and safety protocols necessary for completing assigned tasks.
- Travel to various company locations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent) along with relevant mechanical experience in the repair of trucks, diesel engines, generators, and other machinery.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
- Must meet MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) standards.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and maintenance of a drug-free status.
- Exhibit a positive attitude with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Adaptability in a dynamic work environment is essential.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A mechanical mindset and problem-solving skills are crucial.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in welding.
- Experience working with large machinery.
- Familiarity with high and low voltage electrical systems.
- Experience driving vehicles with trailers.
- Forklift certification is advantageous.
- Manlift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to torque bolts to a minimum of 150 ft/lbs.
