Respiratory ECMO Specialist Nights FT

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory ECMO Specialist to join our team at Tenet Healthcare. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing critical care to patients requiring ECMO therapy.
Key Responsibilities- Set up, troubleshoot, and monitor patients on prolonged life support equipment, including ECMO machines.
- Prepare and prime equipment for ECMO procedures, ensuring proper function and safety.
- Monitor patients receiving ECMO treatment, adjusting rates of blood and gas flow as needed, and documenting patient care information.
- Assess patient status and perform "trials off" ECMO therapy, adjusting ventilator settings and addressing problems as needed.
- Maintain departmental patient records and forward information to national registries.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, ensuring optimal functioning and safety.
- Assist in the development of protocols and ECMO training for senior respiratory therapists.
- Assist in conducting in-services with employees to communicate updates on ECMO and maintain technical knowledge of equipment and procedures.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of ECMO supplies and equipment, ordering and stocking as needed.
- Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program.
- Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care and current CHM ECMO certification.
- Licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist by the State of Michigan.
- Two to three years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with experience in Critical Care preferred.
- BCLS certification required, ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
- Technical skills necessary to operate and monitor ECMO equipment.
- High level of interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical staff, patients, and families.
- ECMO background strongly recommended and skills related to the care of critical infants on life support equipment.
- Leadership skills, including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability, comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching, and counseling skills.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting and positioning of patients. Excellent observational skills are necessary to judge changes in patient condition and assess emergency situations.
