Our veterinary team is devoted to educating clients on maintaining their pets' health throughout the year, offering insights on nutrition, wellness care, parasite control, and the significance of consistent heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.

Operational Hours

Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Full-Time Position

Anticipated Schedule: 4 x 10 days

Compensation

Veterinary Technicians: $15 - $17 based on experience

Credentialed Veterinary Technicians: $20 - $25 based on experience

Position Overview

The Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in assisting veterinarians and lead technicians with patient care and treatment. Responsibilities include monitoring hospitalized pets, managing inventory, preparing prescriptions, conducting routine laboratory work, educating clients about veterinary care, and assisting in surgical procedures.

  • Active Listening: Understand and follow the instructions of veterinarians and client needs based on prior experiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently track lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, and workflow while managing multiple patients and clients.
  • Client Satisfaction: Ensure all interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgical practices.
  • Conduct outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, along with providing client education.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor their vital signs during procedures.
  • Collect blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare specimens for external laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety protocols.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during examinations.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratories; restock supplies as needed.
  • Exhibit warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all client interactions; show compassion and care for all patients.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members regarding client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; assistance is required for heavier items.
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper use of PPE.
  • Basic math skills for calculating medication dosages.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.
