Join the West Virginia Department of Transportation team as a Transportation Worker 2 - Equipment Operator. This role involves performing skilled work in the construction and maintenance of highways, operating motorized highway maintenance equipment, and making major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate motorized highway maintenance equipment, including skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, tandem-axle truck, and snowplow.
  • Make major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge structures.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs in the field, such as changing tires, blades, or filters.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment and checking fluid levels.
  • Flagging, erecting traffic control signs and barricades on construction and maintenance projects, shoveling materials, cleaning culverts, mowing, and brush cutting.
Requirements:
  • A valid class A or class B Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • No formal education required.
