PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive tasks and directives from management, both verbally and in writing. Adhere to schematics, Bills of Materials, and established manufacturing protocols. Collaborate and communicate effectively with supervisors and team leaders.

  • Position coils onto a core (E-Assembly) utilizing a crane.
  • Cut, secure, and distribute core clamps.
  • Set up pressing machinery and operate the pressing unit.
  • Secure the unit in place.
  • Remove pressing equipment from the unit and top yoke.
  • Assist in various departments as required.
  • Access and review unit non-conformances through electronic systems.
  • Complete Core & Coil Assembly for pre-lead ratio and inspection.
  • May engage in Med Power, Large Power, or Extra High Voltage product lines.
  • Assemble pressboard cylinders, end pack out, foot bars, and phase barriers.
  • Crimp and insulate electrical connections.
  • Construct and wire the reactor.
  • Build and assemble Booster Units as necessary (from core setup/e-assembly to wiring).
  • Attach Cleat & Leads Assemblies to units (HV, LV, Top racks).
  • Perform resistance brazing on coil conductor leads and Cleat & Lead connections as needed.
  • Braze sub-assemblies (such as bus bars and external assemblies) as required.
  • Design and assemble wood and cable (Cleat and Lead) racks for mains and boosters.
  • Install de-energized tap changer switches onto wood racks.
  • Stack shunt steel for both the upper and lower sections of the internal assembly.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on machinery. Document repair needs for tooling and equipment.
  • Execute specific contamination control and cleanliness maintenance tasks, including vacuuming and performing magnetic inspections.
  • Complete 5S training and maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and policies of the organization.
  • As required, perform repair work on oiled components both inside and outside of tanks.
  • Support the training of new operators.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


Familiarity with brazing tools, wire and cable cutting devices, grinders, disc sanders, band saws, portable scaffolding, ladders, hydraulic crimpers, hydraulic jacks, pressing machinery, air pallets, chains, hooks, clamps, coil lifting devices, overhead and jib cranes, table saws, shears, and various hand tools.


Materials utilized in this role include wood, cotton and crepe tape, connectors, metal and fiber bolts, threaded stock, paper and fiber tubes, cables, bus bars, adhesives, pressboard, switch gear, silver solder, Cleat and Lead assemblies, assorted conductors of various sizes, top yoke, core assembly, windings, wood supports, spacer rings, insulating materials, wood blocks, and others.

Precision is crucial to prevent significant damage to components or units. Operators may work at heights of up to approximately 18 feet. The operation of the top yoke presents additional hazards due to sharp steel edges. Assembly tasks require mental focus and visual attention to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards. Candidates must be able to work in confined spaces, including inside tanks.
