Medical Unit Coordinator

As a Medical Unit Coordinator at Novant Health, you will work collaboratively with healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, and implementing care plans, as well as ordering and interpreting clinical test results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assuming overall responsibility for patient flow within the office setting
  • Obtaining outside medical records and test results from referring physicians
  • Reviewing patient schedules with physicians and planning for clinical days
  • Cleaning treatment rooms and ensuring proper supplies are stocked
  • Escorting patients to treatment rooms and performing basic routine testing
  • Informing patients of test results and ongoing treatment plans after review with physicians
  • Ensuring patients have follow-up testing and appointments with physicians
  • Recording patient interviews, histories, and chief complaints
  • Performing routine EKGs and documenting accordingly
  • Preparing and administering medications, vaccines, and treatments
  • Providing patient education on office policies, medications, and disease management
  • Assisting physicians with exams and minor office surgery
  • Maintaining supplies, equipment, and sterilizing instruments
  • Recording accurate refrigerator temperature logs and spore testing on autoclaves
  • Performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring patients have all information and questions answered about their health and treatments
  • Completing documentation for observation, planning, and evaluation of care provided
  • Tracking patients through radiology, laboratory, and other referrals
  • Working with pharmacies and insurance companies on prior authorizations
  • Managing inventory of sample medications and performing monthly inventory
