Position Overview

This role involves the design and engineering of protection and control systems for both new and existing substation projects, covering voltage levels from 12kV to 500kV.

The ideal candidate will be adept at creating one-line diagrams based on project specifications, developing AC and DC schematic diagrams, and designing as well as verifying wiring and interconnection diagrams. Proficiency in protection and control calculations is essential, along with experience in developing relay settings and configuring RTUs.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with project teams to produce all necessary design documents and drawings, including one-line and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communication diagrams, and wiring/interconnection diagrams.

Develop specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of substation equipment.

Utilize engineering application software to perform engineering tasks such as determining equipment ratings, sizing equipment according to project needs, calculating CT burdens, AC station service loads, DC battery sizes, and voltage drops.

Engage in effective communication and coordination of project activities with project leads, customer representatives, and other stakeholders.


Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in substation protection and control design and engineering for high voltage substations.

Professional Engineer license is preferred but not mandatory.

Familiarity with engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is required.
