Job Summary

Nuvance Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the clinical area, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Assist patients with preparation for exams, including gowning and securing belongings.
  • Provide specialized care for critical patients, including trauma, stroke, and STEMI patients.
  • Initiate protocol testing and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate with patients and families, collecting specimens and maintaining regular communication with the care team.
  • Perform hourly rounding and maintain open communication with patients and staff.
  • Transport patients to testing and in-patient units.
  • Complete mandatory continuing education and attend staff meetings.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of on-the-job experience and holds either a Medical Assistant or EMT certification, or over 5 years of experience in the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain skills necessary, such as Basic Life Support (BLS), and keep competencies current.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy and EKG training.
  • Direct patient care skills.

Working Conditions
  • Significant manual skills / motor coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Significant occupational risk.
  • Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force.
  • Significant exposure to dirt, odor, noise, human waste, etc.
