Position Summary: The Finance Director is accountable for overseeing the financial health of the organization. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including accounting, compliance, financial reporting, and treasury management. The Finance Director will also collaborate with external consultants for Human Resources management and will report directly to the CEO, contributing to the Executive Management team in fulfilling the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements.
  • Design financial reports tailored to management's requirements.
  • Lead and supervise the Finance Department team.
  • Compile federal grant reports on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Update distribution codes for Shared Cost Allocation based on monitored activities.
  • Conduct periodic testing of the accounting system and implement necessary updates.
  • Complete year-end reconciliations and prepare financial statements, including SEFA.
  • Coordinate year-end audits with external CPA firms.
  • Provide necessary tax information for Form 990 to external auditors.
  • Oversee grant contract negotiations and reviews.
  • Act as Payroll Administrator, managing bi-weekly payroll and filing federal and state returns.
  • Collaborate with outsourced HR vendors and coordinate benefits selection.
  • Manage Accounts Payable to ensure timely processing of payments.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable for reimbursement requests.
  • Prepare the annual budget for the agency.
  • Analyze budget versus actual reports.
  • Engage with program managers monthly regarding grant contracts and budget performance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal control processes and procedures.
  • Stay informed and provide support on agency projects as needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Exemplify leadership through knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts and their practical applications.
  • Capable of logical reasoning to solve complex problems.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is required, along with a CPA designation. Candidates should possess a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in non-profit finance, including:

  • Expertise in Non-Profit Fund Accounting.
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and federal regulations.
  • Experience in government funding compliance.
  • Knowledge of federal grants management.
  • Supervisory experience in a financial capacity.
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting systems is a plus.
  • Skills in budgeting and expense management.

Physical Requirements:

The role may require light physical activity and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling tasks effectively.
