Job Summary:

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Campus Safety Event Officer to join our team. As a Campus Safety Event Officer, you will be responsible for providing professional and courteous campus safety services to the university community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol and Inspect: Patrol and inspect all areas of assigned events, assuming responsibility for the safety and security of people and property on campus.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly, responsibly, and professionally to any emergency or stressful situation; render first aid and/or perform CPR and/or AED as necessary.
  • Traffic and Crowd Management: Assertively and professionally manage and control traffic, crowds, unruly, and/or intoxicated individuals.
  • Policy Enforcement: Maintain a working knowledge of university and department policies and procedures, keeping up-to-date on required information to effectively enforce and warn violators of rule infractions.
  • Outreach and Diversity: Communicate and interact effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on a routine basis.

Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills are required along with the ability to interact effectively in a diversified community.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to multi-task and perform in a busy and stressful environment is essential.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to physically respond to all incidents and emergencies throughout assigned area and be able to perform all duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Experience: Previous related work experience as a campus safety/security officer and/or prior experience working in a college/university environment is preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR, EMT, and First Aid certification highly desired.

Working Conditions:

The Campus Safety Event Officer will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to prioritize tasks effectively.
