We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a Respiratory Care Technician, you will play a critical role in providing basic level respiratory care activities to patients in our Respiratory Care department.
Key Responsibilities- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment used in respiratory care as delegated by a licensed healthcare professional.
- Assemble equipment used in respiratory care as delegated by a licensed healthcare professional.
- Collect and review patient data through non-invasive means, including pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry, and non-invasive monitoring procedures.
- Maintain a nasal cannula or face mask for oxygen therapy in the proper position on the patient's face.
- Assemble a nasal cannula or face mask for oxygen therapy at the patient's bedside in preparation for use.
- Maintain a patient's natural airway by physically manipulating the jaw and neck, suctioning the oral cavity, or suctioning the mouth or nose with a bulb syringe.
- Perform assisted ventilation during emergency resuscitation using a manual resuscitator.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active enrollment in an approved school or program for respiratory care.
- Ability to pass the NBRC exam within one year of graduation.
- Ability to obtain an RCP license in the state of Illinois within six months of passing the NBRC exam.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
