Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital facilities to detect and prevent potential security threats
  • Respond to emergency situations, including Code Silver and Active Shooter events
  • Investigate and report security incidents, completing all necessary logs and paperwork
  • Monitor and operate the fire alarm system, and assist in bomb threat searches and investigations
  • Secure crime scenes until law enforcement arrives
  • Operate computers, programs, and CCTV surveillance systems
  • Handle and inventory patient valuables and departmental cash escorts
  • Maintain and secure accountable items, such as keys and radios
  • Accurately complete and maintain daily security logs, reports, and related paperwork
Requirements
  • 5 years of Armed Security Guard experience, or 5 years of Healthcare/Hospital security experience, or 5 years of Law Enforcement experience
  • Valid NYS Drivers License and Unexpired NYS Armed Security Guard License (includes firearms training and a valid NYS pistol permit)
  • Ability to pass and maintain New York State Security Guard Act requirements
  • Certifications in Crisis Prevention/De-Escalation Training, OC Spray Training, Handcuff Training, BLS/CPR Certification, Belt Trauma Kit Certification, 16 Hour Security Academy, 16 Hour on Job Training, 47 Hour Armed Security Training, 8 Hour Annual DCJS Security Guard Course, and Security Guard DCJS 8 Hour Armed Annual Course
Working Conditions

The Armed Security Officer will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, with frequent exposure to unusual or inclement weather. The position requires the ability to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, and perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time.

Benefits

Ellis Medicine offers a competitive salary range of $25.72-$38.57/hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
