COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

Clear Credential: $79,500/year - $100,700/year
Preliminary Credential: $68,900/year
Intern Credential: $66,144/year

YOUR IMPACT:

This position serves as a Literacy Specialist for the READ 180 Program, catering to students in grades 9-12. You will create a dynamic learning environment tailored to individual student needs, promoting literacy and reading proficiency essential for academic success. Your responsibilities will include:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • A. Instructional Delivery
    • Design and implement instructional materials that cater to various reading and writing skill levels.
    • Provide personalized instruction to motivate and engage students.
    • Utilize diverse teaching techniques and resources to achieve learning objectives.
    • Encourage active participation from all students during lessons.
    • Monitor student engagement and adapt instruction as necessary.
    • Employ positive reinforcement strategies to foster good behavior.
    • Guide students through independent practice sessions.
    • Conclude lessons effectively to reinforce learning.
    • Administer assessments to evaluate student progress.
    • Incorporate technology to enhance the learning experience.
  • B. Educational Planning
    • Develop and execute long-term instructional plans aligned with curricular goals.
    • Create daily lesson plans that meet grade-level standards.
    • Tailor instructional strategies to meet the needs of individual and small groups of students.
  • C. Classroom Management
    • Organize the classroom to maximize instructional time.
    • Structure information for clear and logical presentations.
    • Maintain accurate student records for reference.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational programs.
  • D. Learning Environment
    • Establish a physical space conducive to learning.
    • Foster an emotional climate that supports student engagement.
    • Maintain effective classroom control.
    • Encourage self-regulation and independence among students.
    • Ensure consistent student enrollment to maintain program viability.
  • E. Additional Responsibilities
    • Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
    • Engage in school events and ceremonies.
    • Adhere to attendance and administrative policies.
    • Be open to additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support educational initiatives.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
  • Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) or equivalent certification.
  • Reading Specialist designation is highly preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience is essential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks and projects.
  • Dexterity for tasks requiring fine motor skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for conveying important information.
  • Ability to hear and understand normal conversations.
  • Visual acuity for preparing and reviewing documents.
