JOB SUMMARY: The
Research Associate:
DARE-KY will engage in innovative research within the realm of soilless agriculture, with a particular emphasis on nutrient management, microbial interactions, and the assembly and metagenomics of indigenous microbes.
This position is funded through grants.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Execute research experiments focused on nutrient utilization in soilless agricultural systems
- Oversee the maintenance of aquaponics and hydroponics setups
- Gather and preserve research samples
- Conduct water quality assessments
- Support students in laboratory methodologies
- Manage laboratory equipment and inventory
- Collaborate on the development of research protocols
- Assist in data analysis and the preparation of presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.S. in a relevant discipline
- Background in aquaponics or horticulture
- Competence with laboratory instruments
- Valid driver's license
WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties will be performed in both laboratory and agricultural settings, necessitating the ability to lift over 50 pounds.
