Automation/Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation/Controls Engineer to join our team at GPAC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and configuring new automation systems, upgrading older machinery, and enhancing existing manufacturing lines in various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Design switchgear controls and control panels in accordance with customer specifications, internal specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Project Management: Ensure projects are designed and built to applicable UL and ANSI standards.
  • Component Selection: Select components, create BOM and CAD drawings that meet customer requirements and internal standards for production/manufacturing processes.
  • Cost Reduction: Reduce component material and labor cost through new designs and processes, provide technical support to assembly personnel.
  • Vendor Management: Create vendor PO's and follow up on delivery.
  • Relay and Controller Selection: Provide the selection and setting of protective relays and controllers.
  • Process Improvement: Improve process flow to reduce labor hours, create production schedule and reduce WIP.
  • PLC Programming: Write PLC programs to meet project functional requirements.
  • HMI Programming: Write operator interface (HMI) programs for system control and metering.
  • Operating Sequences: Write operating sequences. Assist with creating project submittals and O&M Manuals.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
  • Test Procedures: Create test procedures and programs as required.

Requirements:

  • Reside in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
  • Hold a BS degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical or Mechanical) required.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills required.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office and Autocad software.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to work long hours and learn.
