Job Overview

The Access Team Lead is accountable for overseeing the evaluation, referral, and admission processes within the Access division.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision:

  • Guides team members in the Access division through leadership, facilitation, training, coordination, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and mentoring.
  • Addresses intricate challenges that arise daily during screenings or with providers while making referrals.
  • Monitors and assesses the intake and evaluation services rendered.
  • Takes charge of resolving any immediate requirements for the individuals we support or their family members.
  • Ensures that the staffing schedule and configuration align with the needs and demands of the patient population and adjusts as necessary.
  • Facilitates comprehensive orientation for new team members.
  • Supervises staff, which includes monitoring data and discussing it during supervision sessions.
  • Actively engages in the professional growth of all team members through the Performance Management process, ensuring timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to the values and possesses knowledge and skills in consumer-focused practices as well as innovations in support, service, treatment, and care practices.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Must hold a Limited License Master's or Master's Degree in a mental health discipline.

Preferred Training:

  • LLP, LP, LMSW, LPC, LMFT
  • CAADC, CADC, CCS, CPS, CPC-R, CCDP, or development plan preferred.

Experience:

  • At least seven (7) years of experience in the behavioral health sector.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the substance use disorder domain.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in community mental health.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in community mental health and substance use disorder program facilitation is preferred.

Competencies and Skills:

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with public mental health service delivery systems.
  • Understanding of substance use, mental health, and the provider network for children and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, including access to additional community services.
  • Knowledge of admission and discharge criteria for various treatment programs and the ability to determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Familiarity with DSM-IV TR and DSM-V criteria.
  • Understanding of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
  • Knowledge of Children's SED Waiver requirements.
  • Familiarity with LOCUS, CALOCUS, CAFAS, and ASAM PPC is preferred.
  • Understanding of substantial functional limitations.

  • Capability to recruit, select, supervise, plan, direct, and evaluate the work of professional, administrative, and clerical staff.

  • Must have reliable transportation for required meetings or site visits.
  • Availability for meetings and events outside of standard office hours, including weekends.
