Position Overview:

The Fraud Prevention Specialist will be responsible for examining all fraud and loss mitigation issues within the organization. This role is vital in ensuring that the values of WaFd Bank, particularly the emphasis on kindness in interactions with colleagues and clients, are upheld.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze various banking system reports to identify potentially fraudulent, unusual, or suspicious activities.
  • Conduct independent assessments of reports concerning fraudulent actions and suspected fraud from various sources, including customers and internal analysts.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on fraud investigations as necessary.
  • Interview employees, victims, witnesses, and suspects to gather relevant information.
  • Investigate legal requests such as subpoenas and levies.
  • Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
  • Examine fraud patterns across multiple channels, including in-branch, checks, electronic transactions, and cyber activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act.
  • Support the mission and values of WaFd Bank.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Preferred certifications in Bank Security or Fraud Examination.
  • Three to five years of experience in fraud-related investigations.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate fraud threats effectively.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
