Job SummaryWe are seeking a General Cleaner at our National Archives and Records Administration (NARA II) project in College Park, MD. This is a part-time position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00pm - 10:30pm. Must be able to work other shifts as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Clean, stock, and supply designated building areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, and more.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners to ensure a clean and hygienic workspace.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors to maintain a clean and visually appealing environment.
- Follow proper cleaning procedures and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Notify supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs to ensure a safe and functional workspace.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects, if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a smooth and efficient work environment.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or commercial cleaning is preferred.
- Proven working experience as a janitor (5 years of experience) is required.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Familiarity with SDS (Safety Data Sheets) is required.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies is required.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents in English.
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 6:00pm - 10:30pm, or other shifts as assigned.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk for extended periods, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and test or smell.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
