Key Responsibilities- Triage and prioritize incoming patients to ensure timely and effective treatment
- Stabilize patients in critical condition and provide life-saving interventions as needed
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, including laboratory tests and imaging studies
- Administer medications and fluids, and provide wound care and post-surgical support
- Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to the veterinary team
- Assist during surgeries and emergency procedures, and provide support to the veterinary team
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing clear and compassionate information about their pet's condition and treatment
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories and treatment plans
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to strict infection control protocols
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine, participating in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry, with a focus on emergency medicine
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners, veterinarians, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations with accuracy and precision, including drug dosages and client invoices
- California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) required; must obtain within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role
