Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates, plans goals, and treats individuals with speech, swallowing, and communication disorders. This role is an integral part of the Interdisciplinary Team, providing an improved quality of life for affected individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the degrees of function and disability of individuals.
  • Provides appropriate professional treatment to improve and/or sustain individuals' functioning level and ability to communicate.
  • Ensures that individuals' physicians and members of the Interdisciplinary Team are informed of goals and expectations for consumers' progress.
  • Provides written and electronically signed documentation of individuals' response to treatment via a speech-language pathology progress note in the individual's EHR.
  • Performs hearing screenings on all new individuals, as requested.
  • Remains sensitive and ensures staff responsiveness to cultural differences in Heartshare Wellness service population.
  • Undertakes any task and initiative as assigned by the Medical Director and Clinic Director.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university from the Speech and Language Pathology program.
  • Approved by the American Speech Hearing Association.
  • Holds Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C) as a result of passing the national certification examination in speech pathology and having worked for paid professional services in the field of speech and language pathology for a minimum of one year.
  • Holds a current license issued by New York State Department of Education to practice as a Speech and Language Pathologist and is registered with the State of New York.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a certified licensed speech pathologist.
