This role is situated within the Cultural Resources Division, focusing on the preservation and interpretation of archaeological heritage.

Eligibility

This position is designated for individuals who are committed to cultural resource management and preservation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee cultural resource initiatives that address sensitive and intricate matters.
  • Facilitate park planning by collecting data and drafting documentation for resource management strategies, interpretive plans, and various park management processes.
  • Serve as the administrative and technical lead for a support team and supervise contractors and collaborators.
  • Act as the archeological expert for compliance, leading surveys and preparing documentation in accordance with relevant preservation acts.

Physical Requirements

This position may necessitate significant physical exertion, including prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting heavy materials. Some tasks may take place in challenging or hazardous environments. Additionally, research and report writing duties are primarily sedentary, requiring focus and extended writing periods.

Work Environment

Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors across various weather conditions. Assignments may involve potentially hazardous locations, including steep terrains, volcanic areas, caves, and diverse ecosystems. Air travel via fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters may be required.
