Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is currently seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer Software - Java to become part of our diverse and skilled team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Java applications within a collaborative team of developers and integrators focused on delivering software products.
  • Engage in the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, and the delivery of build/test/release.
  • Utilize object-oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML, and related technologies (e.g., XPath, XSLT, XSD).
  • Create enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment.
  • Participate in a process-oriented software development environment throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Regularly collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.

In this dynamic work environment, you will thrive under high expectations, engage in diverse assignments, and collaborate across all levels. Comfort in a lab setting and close collaboration with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 5 years of relevant engineering experience; or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, KornShell.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development, object-oriented programming, software integration, and testing.
  • Experience with at least one of the following cloud technologies and service providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud.
  • Active Top Secret DoD Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain program access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a cloud-based setting.
  • Knowledge of Java microservices, GUI applications, threading, intermediate object-oriented programming, design patterns, Data Distribution Service (DDS) messaging, web technologies, Unified Modeling Language (UML), database essentials, and SQL/NoSQL.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of employees and management.

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
