HVAC Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at the Downingtown Area School District. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, as well as related equipment and controls.

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed
• Diagnose and repair problems with HVAC systems, including leaks, blockages, and electrical circuit malfunctions
• Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems, including purchasing, installing, reclaiming, and recycling refrigerant
• Work on electronic, electric, and pneumatic control systems, including troubleshooting and maintaining Class I, II, and III air conditioning systems
• Perform inspections of service and contract jobs to evaluate contractor compliance with contract documents and trade standards

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Trade school diploma, certificate, or equivalent, plus two years' experience in a position-related field
• Maintain certifications and licenses necessary for the completion of job-related skills
• Sufficient knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning, refrigeration, and pneumatic controls
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, schematics, and operation and maintenance manuals
• Ability to troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems for leaks, blockages, electrical circuit malfunctions without trial and error and without immediate supervision
