Job Summary

The Virginia Department of General Services is seeking a skilled Equipment Technician to join our team in Richmond. As a key member of our service shop, you will perform routine maintenance and general auto repair on passenger vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and general automotive repair on passenger vehicles
  • Work with mechanical systems and various tools to perform work
  • Read and comprehend technical repair manuals and document records
  • Provide excellent customer service and work as a team member
  • Lift/push/pull 20 to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and frequent bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, and standing
Requirements
  • Experience performing routine preventative maintenance and general automotive repair on passenger vehicles
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and various tools
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical repair manuals and document records
  • Good computer, customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE or other automotive certifications
Additional Considerations

The selected candidate must pass a fingerprint-based criminal background and DMV driving record check. DGS will record information from each new employee's Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization.
