Job Summary:The Registered Nurse V will be responsible for directing, overseeing, and coordinating nursing care on assigned inpatient units across all shifts. This includes ensuring competent, person-centered care that meets established standards, policies, and protocols. The successful candidate will also provide and supervise direct nursing care and treatment to adult psychiatric patients, participating as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and employing professional standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct, oversee, and coordinate nursing care on assigned inpatient units across all shifts.
- Ensure competent, person-centered care that meets established standards, policies, and protocols.
- Provide and supervise direct nursing care and treatment to adult psychiatric patients.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and employ professional standards of practice.
- Champion hospital PI projects and participate in hospital-wide committees.
- Act as a backup for all other RN IV and V nurses as needed/requested.
- Maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary personnel to ensure safe and efficient unit operations and optimal patient outcomes.
- Support Director of Nursing activities, including in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Current and valid licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
- Of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
- Experience with TJC and CMS surveys, policies, rules, and regulations.
- Experience with Department of Mental Health policies, rules, and regulations.
- Bilingual or multilingual fluency is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership/managerial potential, including interpersonal competence and organizational skills.
- At least three years of experience working in a psychiatric setting.
Taunton State Hospital (TSH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is a 62-bed inpatient facility that provides continuing care inpatient services to adults with major mental illnesses.
The hospital is a leader in the successful integration of the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy into the treatment model and a part of the Southeast Area which works closely with the inpatient treatment teams to facilitate patients' discharge back to the community.
