Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in delivering comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management services aligned with organizational policies, industry benchmarks, and stakeholder expectations. The incumbent will play a crucial role in navigating the dynamic risk management landscape, identifying efficiencies in execution and practices across various business functions. A high degree of independence is required to oversee and execute multiple activities in accordance with the evolving enterprise risk framework and stakeholder expectations, including those of senior management. A thorough understanding of the supported business areas is essential, with a commitment to continuous learning and expertise development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the bank's risk identification initiatives and related processes; collaborate with stakeholders across various defense lines to ensure that outcomes are integrated into processes such as risk appetite and stress testing.
  • Lead discussions during Risk Identification meetings and workshops, ensuring effective execution of the Risk ID process from both the First and Second Lines of Defense perspectives.
  • Conduct and facilitate effective challenges to risk assessments.
  • Generate reports and presentations for diverse committees and forums.
  • Design and deliver training programs for both First and Second Line of Defense stakeholders.
  • Enhance the Risk ID program to align with the bank's future requirements.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures remain current.
  • Support all risk-related aspects of the Markets, Products, and Services program.
  • Oversee one or more Enterprise Risk Management activities, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the Risk Management Framework to develop and implement its various components, actively participating in initiatives to analyze its elements.
  • Create and manage complex reports, spreadsheets, and project work related to various risk disciplines on a scheduled basis.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis, preparing materials and presentations for management, and occasionally delivering these presentations.
  • Perform routine analyses and judgment-based work across closely related disciplines to support business decisions, reviewing the accuracy of others' work.
  • Act as a liaison to assigned business units or risk pillars, collaborating effectively to address business line risks and escalating significant issues to management.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of existing processes and contribute to the planning and implementation of new projects and programs to achieve both short and long-term objectives.
  • Draft and document departmental procedures and other necessary documentation to illustrate processes, supporting the development of training materials.
  • Participate indirectly in regulatory inquiries and examinations, providing periodic updates as needed.
  • Represent the department in various risk committees and meetings, ensuring relevant concerns are communicated to management.
  • Fulfill training requirements as assigned, managing self-directed learning opportunities to enhance knowledge of new initiatives.
  • Comply with the company's risk and regulatory standards, identifying issues that require escalation to management.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive environment that reflects the bank's values.
  • Maintain internal control standards, ensuring timely implementation of audit points and addressing any issues raised by regulators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:

The individual will manage assigned Enterprise Risk Management activities and cultivate essential partnerships across the organization to support the enterprise risk division. Responsibilities may include:
  • Assisting the Chief Risk Officer in managing governance and enterprise risk processes.
  • Supporting compliance with applicable laws and regulations across the organization.
  • Staying informed about emerging risk themes and understanding internal and external factors that may impact the organization.
  • Analyzing data to identify risks and trends.
  • Supporting technology initiatives, including administrative and reporting processes.
  • Independently assessing the management of key processes for effective risk mitigation.
  • Providing data, analytics, and reporting to support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of significant risks.
  • Developing and overseeing training and leadership activities for the Risk Division.
  • Facilitating process automation initiatives.
  • Supporting risk pillar-specific processes as necessary.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not involve direct management but may offer guidance to junior specialists.

Education and Experience Required:

A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of four years of experience in risk management, reporting, analytics, governance, or a related field; or a combination of education and work experience totaling eight years, including at least four years in relevant functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization, proficiency in computer applications, analytical skills, and advanced knowledge of applicable laws. Familiarity with risk analytics and reporting, including the use of decision technologies such as eGRC systems is advantageous.
