Key Responsibilities
Your primary role will involve overseeing the logistics team, providing leadership, strategic planning, and guidance during the preparation of merchandise for the sales floor, truck unloading, stocking, ticketing, and backroom organization. You will work closely with the logistics team while being accountable for metrics related to truck unloading, freight processing, and merchandising presentation standards.
When acting as the Manager on Duty, you will lead and direct store associates in cashiering, customer service, recovery, and furniture-related tasks on the sales floor. Occasionally, you may be required to operate a cash register, assist with customer service, or help with recovery tasks as necessary.
Essential Duties
- Plan and oversee the preparation of new merchandise for the sales floor, including truck unloading, freight flow, display assembly, ticketing, and stocking tasks for the logistics team.
- Provide clear work direction, training, and coaching to team members regarding freight flow processes and furniture assembly.
- Analyze and assess staffing and scheduling requirements for all freight flow processes based on projected carton counts and payroll allocation weekly.
- Track, calculate, and report on freight productivity metrics within the store on a weekly basis.
- Offer feedback to store leadership regarding team performance and their ability to meet freight metrics.
- Ensure stockroom organization and cleanliness, including back stock control.
- Prepare for upcoming merchandising efforts and reconcile all inventory transactions in collaboration with store merchandising leadership.
- Serve in the Manager on Duty capacity as needed, including opening and closing the store. In this role, provide leadership and direction to floor associates, ensuring that store, merchandising, and customer service standards are consistently met, including merchandise presentation, signage, recovery, and cleanliness. Enhance the customer experience and ensure resolution of any customer issues.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required. Must be at least 18 years old.
- A minimum of two years of retail management experience is preferred.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds is required. Must be capable of unloading freight, moving products on and off store shelves, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule of at least 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
- Basic English literacy, math, and computer skills are required.
