  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • Responsible for obtaining blood specimens from both inpatients and outpatients. Ensures accurate identification of samples that may have been improperly collected or processed. Manages physician requests for laboratory examinations. Upholds the laboratory's professional image when interacting with patients, hospital personnel, and medical staff.
  • DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
    • The laboratory teams at Samaritan Health Services are tasked with analyzing samples, which may encompass blood, bodily fluids, and tissues, to assist in diagnosing medical conditions that require attention. Laboratory tests are conducted for hospital inpatients and emergency room cases around the clock. Additionally, testing is performed on specimens from outpatient and clinic visits. All laboratories within Samaritan Health Services are certified by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act (CLIA) and accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
    • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
    • Healthcare Provider Level BLS certification is essential.
    • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program or one (1) year of recent phlebotomy experience is required, or participation in Samaritan's Phlebotomy Training Program.
    • Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred.

    • Analytical Skills: Ability to gather and evaluate data and information, resolve issues, and make informed decisions through logical reasoning.
    • Customer Service: Understanding of customer service principles and processes within the healthcare sector, including assessing customer needs, meeting service quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction.
    • Conflict Resolution: Capability to address conflicts proactively and constructively, possessing the skills to manage complaints, resolve disputes, and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
    • Time Management: Proficient in organizing, planning, and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Compliance Monitoring: Ability to oversee personal and team performance by applying knowledge of established standards from regulatory bodies and understanding licensure requirements.
    • Training and Communication: Competence in conveying technical information and conducting presentations for customers and new team members.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Physical demands include various activities such as climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, sitting, pushing, pulling, and reaching, with specific frequency levels ranging from rarely to continually.
