Position Overview: Aerospace Mechanical Systems Technician II

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical assembly and testing on hardware intended for space applications.
  • Perform cleaning of components and assist in the creation of work instructions.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and demonstrate an understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Engage in quality control processes for both prototype and spaceflight hardware.
  • Ensure all tasks align with company design specifications, quality standards, and engineering directives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing assembly integration and testing environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree or completion of a Technical School program preferred.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical assembly.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with various adhesives and epoxies.
  • Ability to operate in a regulated environment under strict document control.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and documentation, including Bills of Materials and assembly instructions.
  • Timely maintenance of documentation to accurately reflect work progress.
  • Demonstrated self-sufficiency and attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Ability to follow written standard operating procedures meticulously.
  • Comfortable with basic arithmetic, including unit conversions.
  • Knowledge of standard mechanical manufacturing practices, including torqueing, staking, and harnessing.
  • Experience with testing equipment such as load cells, multi-meters, and power supplies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times a day.
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, kneeling, and using hands for inspection.
  • Current or ability to obtain J-STD-001 Solder Certification with the Space Addendum is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, Solidworks, and composite materials is advantageous but not required.
