Position Overview

The Sacramento Employment and Training Agency is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Early Childhood Education Substitute Teacher Assistant. This position involves facilitating a range of educational activities for children aged 6 months to 5 years within the Head Start Program.

Role Responsibilities: Under general supervision, you will be responsible for planning and executing activities tailored for young children in a daycare setting. This includes providing guidance to teacher assistants and parent volunteers, ensuring a nurturing and educational environment.

Essential Knowledge: Candidates should possess a solid understanding of daycare operations, developmental milestones for infants to preschool-aged children, child protection regulations, and the challenges faced by low-income families. Familiarity with effective teaching strategies is also crucial.

Qualifications: A minimum of six (6) college units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent educational background is required.

Application Process: This examination is open to the public, including current employees and those eligible for transfer or voluntary demotion. Interested candidates must submit a completed application along with copies of all relevant degrees, permits, and credentials.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment health assessment, tuberculosis screening, and background verification, in addition to providing immunization documentation for MMR, TDAP, and flu (or a flu waiver).
