Job Summary

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for administering diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals, operating nuclear medicine and PET equipment, and obtaining diagnostic images or measurements of pharmaceutical distribution in specified body areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Radiopharmacist.
  • Verify orders on each assigned patient and refer any discrepancies to the Radiologist.
  • Correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Operate dose calibrators, computers, lab equipment, and survey meters.
  • Verify the correct patient by checking the patient's armband and validate proof of identity.
  • Record medical history on requisitions and dose information, patient data, dates, views, and other pertinent information on finished exams.
  • Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program required.
  • Registered with NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer, radiation physics, and tomographic imaging highly preferred.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. May be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat, and kneel in performing diagnostic procedures. Vision and hearing for distances of at least 20 feet is necessary. Able to carry weights of up to 25 pounds while moving film jackets, supplies, or equipment to work areas. Significant walking will be required as approximately 50% of work time will be standing. 50% of work time will be operating computers, monitors, survey meters, and other equipment requiring manual dexterity and use of the hands. Precision manual dexterity required for venipuncture and radiopharmaceutical administration.
