Nuclear Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Specialist to join our team at Atrium Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for operating nuclear medicine and PET equipment to obtain diagnostic images and measurements.
Key Responsibilities- Administer diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Radiopharmacist.
- Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
- Correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
- Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
- Operate dose calibrators, computers, lab equipment, and survey meters.
- Verify the correct patient by checking the patient's armband and validating proof of identity, recording medical history on requisitions.
- Record dose information, patient data, dates, views, and other pertinent information on finished exams.
- Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing additional images and/or measurements as instructed.
This position requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. You will be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat, and kneel in performing diagnostic procedures. Vision and hearing for distances of at least 20 feet are necessary. You will be able to carry weights of up to 25 pounds while moving film jackets, supplies, or equipment to work areas. Significant walking will be required, with approximately 50% of work time spent standing and 50% operating computers, monitors, survey meters, and other equipment requiring manual dexterity and use of the hands.
Education, Experience, and CertificationsWe require a High School Diploma or GED, successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program, and registration with the NMTCB or ARRT (N). Nuclear Medicine Technology experience is preferred, as is proficiency in computer, radiation physics, and tomographic imaging. A BLS certification is required per policy guidelines.
