Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Biomechanics Associate to join our team at Exponent, a leading provider of data-driven insights and innovation. In this role, you will work closely with our team to support our proactive, real-world initiative, utilizing digital health technologies and data analytics capabilities to monitor and predict patient outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and execute human experiments to quantify and interpret health, wellness, and performance characteristics in naturalistic movement environments.
- Derive, analyze, and interpret complex technology-driven data streams related to human health, wellness, and performance, and human-product interactions in various settings.
- Apply innovative data analysis approaches to understand or inform health, wellness, and performance outcomes for a broad range of biomechanical and physiological data streams.
- Develop proposals to initiate and/or support new opportunities in the human performance technology sector, including clinical, military, consumer products, and sports.
- Research and review relevant scientific journals, publications, and testing, and analyze and synthesize technical biomechanics issues involving kinematics, dynamics, mechanisms of injury, and human tolerance.
- Communicate findings via written reports and presentations.
- Demonstrate the ability to synthesize technical information into an easily understood format suitable for presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
- You will work in a small team environment within the larger company-wide Biomechanics Practice, and as such, you will be expected to actively create and pursue opportunities to develop a positive workflow.
- While balancing the demands of project work, you will be expected to participate in original research, publish papers in technical journals, and present findings at conferences.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, Movement Science, Physical Therapy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in study design and associated statistical analyses.
- Experience in using wearable technologies to quantify human motion/performance in various settings.
- Significant experience in computational programming, with an emphasis on signal processing.
- Prior experience and expertise in working with large-scale datasets is desirable.
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff.
