Radiology Department Manager

The purpose of this role is to oversee and direct all compliance functions within the Diagnostic Imaging department, ensuring adherence to regulatory agencies' standards. This includes monitoring and reporting of Patient Safety and Quality activities, overseeing radiation badges, and organizing continuing education for the department. Additionally, the incumbent will review coding and billing codes, dictated radiology reports, technologist charging, and documentation in EPIC to identify areas for non-compliance. The role also involves monitoring educational professional requirements, assisting with revenue cycle activities, and following Corewell Health's philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure radiology department compliance with regulatory agencies' standards (e.g., JCAHO, NRC, and OSHA)
- Develop and submit department compliance plans and bi-annual reports, maintain records, and monitor adherence to educational, professional, and health requirements
- Conduct routine audits relating to billing, medical records, etc.
- Write SR tickets, test OneChart modifications, and work OneChart work queues
- Maintain the department's QA Program, update policies, and ensure QA of lead apparel, including inspections, repairs, and ordering
- Monitor all mandatory learning, organize continuing education for the department, and obtain CE credit approval from accrediting agencies
- Maintain department policies and procedures, staff licensures, and CPR
- Demonstrate leadership and conflict resolution abilities through effective problem-solving
- Ensure effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation with medical staff, management, technical, and support staff
- Knowledge of computers for charging/viewing schedules and PACS for sending information accurately and efficiently
- Train staff in all areas related to EPIC documentation
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients and employees
- Liaise between imaging and MISD coders/service of excellence/Imaging IT gatekeeper
- Process owner of QRS
- Complete department audits, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and maintain department statistics and actively participate in department and hospital sub-committees
- Minimum of 5 years' radiology/clinical experience and/or 5 years' experience in a more advanced operational role within the Imaging department
- Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program
- Experience in the management of Imaging records/processes or a more advanced operational role within the Imaging department
- CRT - Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire or CRT - Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross
- Able to work a weekend rotation to support down times (about 6-8 times per week)
