Position OverviewRole Summary:

This is a uniformed role that requires a constant presence. The Security Operations Specialist is tasked with acting as a visible deterrent to unlawful activities, ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, and safeguarding the facilities and assets as designated. This position involves responding to emergency situations, managing disaster protocols, conducting initial investigations of reported incidents, and executing various security-related responsibilities as directed by supervisory personnel. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to travel between different facilities is essential. Adherence to the prescribed uniform standards is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits proficiency in the relevant competencies: Self-Leadership, Team Leadership, or Executive Leadership.
  • Conducts regular security inspections of the premises and surrounding areas as assigned.
  • Identifies and communicates patterns related to security concerns and suggests appropriate measures.
  • Accurately documents initial details for incident reports, ensuring clarity and factual accuracy, and submits reports promptly.
  • Responds efficiently to all service requests communicated through various channels in a professional manner.
  • Manages the collection, documentation, and return of lost items and personal belongings in accordance with established protocols.
  • Upholds all organizational policies, regulations, and state laws relevant to the operations.
  • Oversees parking regulations through patrols and appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Assists healthcare staff in managing challenging situations involving patients or visitors.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned duties in a manner that meets the diverse needs of individuals served.
  • Exhibits knowledge in operating security systems, including surveillance equipment and communication devices.
  • Utilizes computer systems to generate daily activity reports and other necessary documentation.
  • Promotes a secure environment by reporting safety hazards encountered during patrols.
  • Adapts assessment and care methods to meet the unique needs of each individual served.
  • Displays competence in the use of security equipment and techniques.
  • Regularly encounters high-stress situations and potential hazards.
  • May face exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • Engages in physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting as part of the role.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain a high level of mental alertness.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to make swift decisions regarding policies and procedures is necessary.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Must handle personal stress and potential confrontational situations.
  • Preferred: Minimum of two years of experience in armed security or equivalent military service.
  • Experience in law enforcement is advantageous.
  • Healthcare security experience is a plus.
  • Active Level 3 Certification (Texas) is required.
  • Compliance with state-specific security commission requirements is necessary.
  • Completion of verbal de-escalation training within the first 60 days of employment is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Completion of various training programs related to security operations is required.
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment assessments is mandatory.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Completion of FEMA Emergency Management Institute courses is required.
